ABOUT ME

Jayla Jackson is an Atlanta-based producer and activist whose impressive journey began in 2021. She gained national recognition as one-half of the first Black girl duo to win Harvard's International Debate Competition, making history twice as the youngest Black female to achieve this feat. In honor of her accomplishments, Fulton County, Georgia, designated Jayla Jackson and Emani Stanton: Atlanta Great Debaters’ Day in her name. She was also named one of Teen Vogue's Top 21 Under 21 that same year.

In 2023, Jayla was appointed Atlanta’s Youth Poet Laureate and served as the Youth Lieutenant Governor of Georgia. Her work has been spotlighted by major outlets, including ABC, NBC, Good Morning America, and FOX 5. As a sought-after speaker, she has delivered keynotes for organizations like Coca-Cola, Warner Media, and Teach for America.

Jayla debuted as a producer in 2022, serving as the Executive Producer for the film Ahmad, which won two honors at the 2023 Telly Awards, earning her the title of 2X Telly Award Winner. She also worked as Associate Producer on Speak Up Brotha!, the Morehouse Human Rights Film Festival winner, which was showcased at both the American Black Film Festival and Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival. In 2023, she served as a production assistant and marketing representative for TC Carson’s upcoming live television show, Uncle G-Daddy’s Kitchen, featuring stars like Terri Vaughn and Jasmine Guy. Most recently, Jayla traveled to Poland with the Veritas School of Social Sciences to produce a Schusterman Foundation-funded mini-documentary.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies at Arizona State University, Jayla plans to continue to law school and remain committed to her passions for media, social justice, and education. Her ultimate goal is to create meaningful contributions to her community while championing progress in the causes she holds dear.
